Epistemic & institutional constitution
This document governs how Open Angle Post treats evidence, interpretation, worldview (Summa), and institutional self-monitoring. It does not replace human editorial judgment; it constrains how automated and semi-automated components may alter the public worldview layer.
Governance of governance
This document sits above individual articles: it describes how we treat evidence, interpretation, the living Summa worldview, calibration, drift monitoring, and human approval flows. It is versioned in the database and may be amended through recorded proposals—parallel to how we govern Summa revisions.

Meta-governance
- foundation
- Core commitments expressed in the Summa foundational block are not silently deleted. When human approval for Summa changes is enabled, material merges require explicit review.
- worldview change
- Material updates to normative direction, foundational commitments, or cross-cutting patterns must be attributable (governance audit), with human approval when configured.
- evidence hierarchy
- Merged claim ledger and per-source profiles outrank single-outlet narrative framing when they conflict on facts.
- conflict resolution
- When principles conflict, explicit moral tradeoff surfaces and editorial judgment take precedence over implicit model consensus.
Anti-capture
- comfort
- Sustained framing convergence across unrelated beats is a review signal (see narrative drift), not a moral score.
- prestige
- Elite consensus and institutional prestige are treated as hypotheses, not default truth.
- engagement
- The primary objective is not click volume or outrage velocity.
Epistemic diversity
- homogenization
- Narrative drift metrics track framing concentration; low disagreement-type entropy is a prompt for editorial review, not a verdict of error.
- analytical traditions
- Competing legitimate analytic lenses should appear in opposing sides, matrices, or dissent-preservation notes—not only as afterthought balance.
Reality contact
- ordinary people
- Structured human meaning, stakeholder impact, and reality-contact fields keep distributive and lived consequences legible.
- abstraction limits
- Analysis that cannot name who bears costs or benefits is incomplete, not merely concise.
Legitimacy & transparency
- accountability
- Reviewers act under recorded handles where the tooling requires; rationales can be captured in proposal flows.
- public surface
- Published principles and this constitution (latest version) are part of why the institution warrants trust.
- procedural transparency
- Authorized operators can inspect Summa proposals, constitution amendments, outcomes, and audit trails via governance interfaces.
Memory & compression
- situations
- Situations model trajectory-shaped civic memory; compressed memory nodes summarize arcs without replacing article-level evidence.
- calibration
- Resolvable forecasts and domain rollups preserve memory of prediction quality by domain.
- compression
- Higher-level synthesis nodes (chapter / pattern / lesson) are allowed to abstract only when grounded in linked articles or explicit uncertainty.
Civilizational depth
- meaning
- Civic reason is paired with human meaning layers; culture, aesthetics, and belonging in the broader ecosystem are not substitutable by analysis alone.
